Synopsis

Varði goes to Europe is an independent sequel to Varði Goes on Tour. This time Varði heads to mainland Europe with his guitar to become a street artist. On his journey he meets a bunch of interesting performers, such as Leo Gillespie, Juggling John, Paul Sanith, KK and many more. This documentary shows a small glimpse of the vast culture of street artists in Europe.

Director

Grimur Hakonarson graduated from FAMU - Film Academy of Performing Arts in Prague 2004. His graduate film, Slavek the Shit, was selected to the Cannes Film Festival 2005 and it won 10 prizes in festivals around the world. Grimur also made a short film called Wrestling (2007), about two homosexual wrestlers in the country side of Iceland. Wrestling won 24 festival prizes and was selected to festivals like Locarno, Sundance, Rotterdam and many others. Grimur is now working on his first feature film, Summerland, which will come out in January 2010. Summerland tells the story of a family who tries to incorporate icelandic spiritualism.
